Visteon, Halla open auto testing lab in Shanghai

Shanghai, March 2, 2009 – Halla Climate Control (HCC), a subsidiary of Visteon Corporation that manufactures automotive climate control systems and components, has opened a testing laboratory in Shanghai. With this new facility, Visteon and HCC offer automakers full components testing capability in China, helping reduce product development cycle time.

The laboratory enables testing and validation of sub-system level parts for a variety of climate systems components. This additional capability complements the component-level validation capability already in place in each manufacturing plant in China.

"The new test laboratory plays a critical role in developing world-class air conditioning systems in China," said Mr. K.I. Kim, general manager, Halla Climate Control (Shanghai).

Adjacent to Visteon's China Technical Center, a research and development center for vehicle interiors and electronics technologies, the 400-square meter laboratory includes four major pieces of advanced testing equipment. They include two air flow test stands -- one for heating, ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC) and one for cooling modules; one sound room for noise vibration and harshness tests; and testing equipment for evaporator, heater, and airflow development (EHAD).

Visteon and its affiliate HCC have seven strategically located manufacturing facilities in China, enabling them to offer a full range of climate control components and systems to customers. These facilities are supported by technical centers in Shanghai and Korea. Visteon owns 70 percent of the equity shares of Halla Climate Control (HCC).
