Brilliance vehicles shining at Geneva auto show
Shanghai, March 4 (Gasgoo.com) Brilliance Auto is one of the few Chinese carmakers displaying their vehicles at this year's Geneva Auto Show, the most important auto show in Europe, xinhuanet.com reported today.
Brilliance Auto, which began to target the European market three years ago, has been attending the Geneva show since 2007. This year it is showing four models in Geneva, including its Junjie brand's sporty BS4 wagon (1.8T MT), BS2 FRV, BS6 midsize sedan, and a Zunchi model.
Brilliance's show stage, colored in red, white and black as the colors of its car models on display, is in the second pavilion, close to the stages of Subaru, Seat, Techart, and Calsson.
"We are very happy to be here for the third time. The size of our booth has doubled compared with last year's," said Hans-Ulrich Sachs, managing partner of HSO Motors Europe, General Sole Importer of Brilliance Brand in Europe.
HSO Motors Europe and its distributors sold about 1,000 Brilliance cars in Europe last year, short of the target due to European restrictions (which will be lifted next month for Chinese cars). "In 2009, we think we can sell 6,000 cars, and for 2010, we will sell even more, far more than 10,000 units," Sachs said.
Brilliance Auto's CEO and president Qi Yumin said that attending global auto shows in Geneva, Detroit is a small step taken by Brilliance Auto to enter the European and North American markets, but this means a big stride by a Chinese-brand carmaker to go global amid the financial crisis.
The Geneva Motor Show opened exclusively to media yesterday. It opened to the public today and will last until March 15.
