China's auto-parts exports grow slower in 2008
Shanghai, March 10 (Gasgoo.com) The auto-parts import and export data from China Customs show that the exports of engines, components and other auto-parts products continued to grow fast in 2008, but their growth rate has slowed down, according to China Association of Automobile Manufacturers (CAAM).
The exports of auto parts, accessories and car bodies in 2008 were valued at $19.066 billion, up 22.26%% year on year (y/y), but 13.12 percentage points lower than the growth rate of 2007; the exports of automobile and motorcycle tires were valued at $7.276 billion, up 16.54% y/y, but 20.29 percentage points lower; exports of other related auto-parts products were valued at $7.39 billion, up 14.13% y/y, but 23.67 percentage points lower.
Last year, China exported 4,852,100 engines, up 17.98% y/y, but 55.04 percentage points lower; the engine export value increased by 11.18% y/y to 1.318 billion, but 42.23 percentage points lower.
In 2008, exports of the above-mentioned four major kinds of auto products were valued at $35.05 billion, accounting for 70% of China's total auto-parts products export value in the year.
