Shanghai, March 12 (Gasgoo.com) China Association of Automobile Manufacturers (CAAM) plans to propose the government to issue policies for supporting commercial vehicle development, Xiong Chuanlin, vice director of CAAM told auto.cyol.com recently.

Data collected by CAAM showed that in the first two months of 2009, China's commercial vehicle output and sales stood at 348,700 units and 345,700 units, down 13.15% and 6.94% year on year respectively.

As the government's stimulus policy took effect in February, China's auto market downturn has begun to reverse, but the market is far from recovery, Zhu Yiping, vice director of CAAM said. The commercial vehicle market is significantly weaker than passenger vehicle market, she added. She expected the government could issue related policies to boost commercial vehicle's development as soon as possible.

An industry analyst said the preferential treatment of passenger vehicles has showed good results, which proved the government's proper way to support the auto industry. The policy for commercial vehicle market is necessary, too, he said.
