BYD Co, China's largest rechargeable batteries maker as well as automobile producer, Thursday said its monthly sales increased 27.96% from 21,915 units in January to 23,819 units in February, sources reported.

The Shenzhen-based automaker sold 14,242 units of F3 model. With the new F3 automatic transmission model, the company aims to sell more than 10,000 F3 cars per month in future.

Sales of F6 model hit 3,517 units last month and the number is expected to reach 5,000 per month, said BYD.

In the meantime, BYD sold 4,075 F02 model cars and 1,985 F3R model cars.

In January, BYD's car sales surged 79.8% year on year mainly due to the stimulus measures issued by the Chinese government to boost the auto sector.

China's monthly auto sales in January exceeded the U.S., becoming the world's largest auto market for the first time. In February, the country's auto sales grew 24.72% year on year to hit 827,600 units, according to data released by China Association of Automobiles Manufacturers (CAAM).
