Beijing Hyundai to display i30 at Shanghai show

Shanghai, March 17 (Gasgoo.com) Beijing Hyundai, Hyundai Motor's joint venture in China with Beijing Automotive Industry Co, will present the Hyundai i30 hatchback at the upcoming 2009 Shanghai Auto Show to be held on April 22-28, Xinhua reported today.

Hyundai i30 is a hatchback model with a 2,650mm wheelbase and is powered by six engines for choice, including the gasoline versions (1.4L 109hp, 1.6L 122hp, 2.0L 143hp) and the diesel versions (1.6L 90hp, 1,6L 115hp, 2.0L 140hp).

The joint venture automaker is expected to build the car at its second plant by the second half of this year, the report said.

Beijing Hyundai recorded a sales increase for two straight months so far this year. Its February sales rose 72.3 percent from a year earlier to 32,008 vehicles after sales in January rose 17 percent year on year. Hyundai Motor expects to sell 360,000 vehicles in the Chinese market this year, up 25 percent from last year's 290,000 units.
