Dongfeng Nissan launches New Sylphy today
Shanghai, April 8 (Gasgoo.com) Dongfeng Nissan Passenger Vehicle Co, a joint venture between China's Dongfeng Motor and Japan's Nissan Motor, today launched its first revamped sedan model in 2009 -- the New Sylphy (Xuanyi) to the Chinese market, sina.com said.
The New Sylphy, or Xuanyi in Chinese, has a bigger size and upgraded configurations, but its retail price will not be higher than the current Sylphy's. It measures 4,665mm in length, 55mm longer than its predecessor, with the same 2,700mm-wheelbase. Its front design is similar to that of New Teana.
Dongfeng Nissan said the New Sylphy is positioned as a flagship family sedan, targeting at household users, a shift from the previous business users of the previous Sylphy. The New Sylphy will compete with Corolla, Civic and Octavia in the A-class segment market.
The New Sylphy comes with six 1.6L and 2.0L models, maybe priced between 130,000 yuan ($19,030) and 180,000 yuan. The new cars have been delivered to showrooms and can be ordered now with a deposit of 5,000 yuan.
In January this year, Dongfeng Nissan sold 43,000 vehicles and overtook Shanghai VW as China's top car seller in terms of monthly sales. The joint venture's vehicle sales in the first quarter exceeded 85,000 units, up 25% from a year earlier.
