SAIC released teasing images of MG6 concept

SAIC released official images of MG6 ahead of Shanghai Auto Show 2009.

Shanghai Auto (SAIC) is planning to unveil its MG6 grand tourer concept at the Shanghai Auto Show later this month.

The MG6 will be based on the midsize Roewe 550 platform, which in turn was derived from the earlier Rover 75 platform.

The automaker is keeping details of the new concept under wraps, but various Chinese Web sites have reported that the MG6 will feature normally aspirated and turbocharged 1.8-liter four-cylinder gas engines with a choice of manual and automatic gearboxes.

SAIC intends to begin selling the MG6 later this year in China, with exports to Europe slated to commence in 2010.
