BMW debuts 760 Li sedan at Shanghai show

Shanghai, April 20 (Gasgoo.com) BMW, the world's largest premium car maker, unveiled a new model in its 7 Series at the Shanghai auto show Monday. The BMW 760 Li sedan has a 6-liter, 12 cylinder engine.

Ian Robertson, executive board member of BMW AG, said in a press conference that China will likely be the vehicle's biggest market.

"China is an extremely important market for premium vehicle," he said. "We recently increased dour production capacity in China from 30,000 units to well above 40,000 units. We also increased our local purchasing volume by 22 percent."

Mr Robertson predicts demand in China's automobile market may be flat in the second and third quarters of this year, but will likely pick up in the last three months of the year.

Sales of BMW and its Mini brand vehicles came to 16,580 units for January to March, up from 14,574 units a year earlier, it said in a statement.
