Great Wall shows Hover M3 SUV in Shanghai
Shanghai, April 21 (Gasgoo.com) China's SUV-maker Great Wall Motor is displaying 12 own-brand models at the 2009 Shanghai auto show. These models include Hover M1, Hover H5 and Hover M3, a five-seat compact SUV, xinhuanet.com reported today.
Great Wall has unveiled the chunky, funky urban SUV model Hover M3 at the show. Reportedly based on the carmaker's Coolbear (a rip-off of Toyota's Scion xB), the production-bound Hover M3 adds some faux off-road capability to the former vehicle's boxy proportions.
Even if it lacks genuine rock-hopping ability, the upright result of the added cladding, big fender flares, and larger front light fixtures gives the Hover H3 added spunk and originality.
Looking a bit like a cartoonist's narrow-gauge Dodge Nitro, we might nix the big chrome wing badge on the front grille. If nothing else, the M3 is markedly more original than the Coolbear.
In addition, three Great Wall sedans including Florid, Peri and Cool bear, along with Wingle pickup and Cowry MPV, are displayed at the Shanghai show. A newly developed electric car and a Wingle RV are also showcased.
