Foton unveils luxury light truck in Shanghai
Shanghai, April 22 (Gasgoo.com) The Foton Aumark C20, a high-end light truck powered by a world-class engine, has made its world premiere at the ongoing Shanghai auto show, xinhuanet.com said today. The Chinese-made luxury truck is expected to go on sale in the domestic market in May.
Beiqi Foton Motor Co., a commercial vehicle subsidiary of Beijing Auto and Chinese partner of top U.S. diesel engine maker Cummins Inc., said that Foton Aumarkt, as the first high-end Chinese-brand light truck, features Cummins' top-class engine, the Mercedes-Benz technology-based chassis and the European safety car-body.
The Foton Aumark C20 is equipped with the world's first ISF3.8 engine jointly produced by Foton and Cummins. The engine meets the latest China IV emission standard and its performance is highly boosted. It can save fuel by up to 7% but raise its power by 10-20kw.
In March 2008, Cummins Inc. and Beiqi Foton Motor launched a 50/50 joint venture company -- Beijing Foton Cummins Engine Co. Ltd. (BFCEC) to produce Cummins light-duty, high-performance diesel engines in Beijing.
Foton said it would install the Cummins engines made by the joint venture in its high-end light trucks to help sell more than 200,000 units overseas annually by 2010.
