Mercedes-Benz shows 35 models in Shanghai
Shanghai, April 23 (Gasgoo.com) German luxury car maker Mercedes-Benz, the premium division of Daimler AG, has brought 35 models of four Mercedes brands -- Mercedes-Benz, Maybach, Smart and Mercedes-AMG -- to the 2009 Shanghai auto show this week, a record number of new model premieres, xinhuanet.com said today.
Four new S-Class models -- the new S 400 Hybrid, S 300, S 600 and S 65 AMG – had their world premieres in Shanghai. As the first car equipped with a lithium-ion battery, the S 400 Hybrid establishes a new benchmark for low-emission luxury saloons. The S-Class continues to set new standards in the luxury sedan segment.
The all-new E-Class, featuring the eco-friendly BlueEfficiency technology, was also unveiled at the Shanghai show, the first time in Asia. It is now available for ordering by Chinese buyers throughout the event ahead of its China launch in July. Before its long-wheelbase version is made in Daimler's Chinese venture with Beijing Auto, the E-Class will be imported to the Chinese market soon.
The super-luxury brand Maybach presents two masterpieces -- the Maybach Zeppelin and Maybach 62 China edition. Just a month after its global launch, the new Zeppelin made its Asia premiere in Shanghai.
Mercedes-Benz's show offerings - from first-class products, eco-friendly innovations and safety technologies to sublime design and superb performance - signifies the German luxury car maker's long-term commitment to China's auto industry.
After its China sales in March saw a 50% rise to more than 5,000 units, Mercedes-Benz aims to outperform growth in country's luxury car market this year. Mercedes-Benz competes with BMW and Audi in the China's high-end auto market.
