VW announces price of Passat New Lingyu

Shanghai, April 27 (Gasgoo.com) Volkswagen, along with its two joint ventures Shanghai Volkswagen and FAW-Volkswagen, presented 25 latest models, including the Passat New Lingyu and new Golf, at Auto Shanghai 2009.

The German auto giant has announced that pricing of the Passat New Lingyu will range from 169,800 yuan ($24,860) to 303,800 yuan depending on equipment and trim level. Power will come from a 1.8T, 2.0L or a 2.8LV6 engine.

Passat New Lingyu made its global debut at Shanghai auto show on April 20, 2009.
The new Passat version was manufactured through FAW-Volkswagen.

According to the company's press release, the Passat New Lingyu made by FAW VW features improvements in both engine power and fuel economy. The re-matched engine of the 1.8-T model has its maximum power increased from 110kw to 120kw, yet fuel consumption has reduced from 7.3L to 6.2L/100km (AT), down by 15% and from 7.1L to 6.3L/100km (MT), down by around 11%.

The 2.8V6 engine can achieve the max torque of 260 Nm at the speed of 3200 rpm. The 2.8V6 Passat New Lingyu burns just 7.1 liter fuel per 100km.

The New Golf is another classic model presented to the Chinese customers. It is equipped with Volkswagen's 1.4 TSI turbocharged direct injection engine and 7-gear DSG double-clutch automatic transmission.

Dr. Winfried Vahland, President and CEO of Volkswagen Group China, said at the opening date of the auto show that "with our new locally produced stars Passat New Lingyu and New Golf we have complemented our product portfolio."

He expressed that sales figure in the first quarter of this year has clearly exceeded their expectation.
