SAIC to roll out new energy vehicles by 2012

Shanghai, May 6 (Gasgoo.com) China's auto giant SAIC has announced that it will launch medium-duty hybrid by 2010 and will put its plug-in Active Hybrid and all-electric car on sale by 2012, said xinhuanet.com today.

According to SAIC's plan for developing new energy vehicles, the company aims to put its Roewe 750 medium-duty hybrid on the market by 2010, with total energy saving rate reaching 20%. To support the Shanghai World Expo 2010, SAIC will offer about a thousand new energy vehicles to the pageant.

By 2012, SAIC will put on sale its Roewe 550 plug-in Active Hybrid, with total energy saving rate reaching 50% and its pure electric car will also be available on the market with zero emission, the company said.
