China researches energy-saving, new-energy cars

China is to accelerate the industrial process of energy-saving and new energy cars. The Ministry of Science and Technology, and the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology said on Thursday the move aims to accelerate the structural adjustment of the auto industry.

Science and Technology Minister Wan Gang says China has developed three types of new-energy-car research systems. They are mixed power, pure electro-motion and fuel battery. The country will concentrate its efforts to develop key technology and integration.

Wan Gang, Minister of Chinese Ministry of Science and Technology, says, "using technology to change the subsidy policy, to boost the connection of enterprises within the capital market, and to expand industry and market scale."

Some domestic car-makers such as FAW Volkswagen and SAIC Group already have research teams. The ministry says they were studying and promoting the technology for the entire car and its parts, and setting up related standards.

Li Yizhong, Minister of Chinese Ministry of Industry and Info. Tech., says, "it should accelerate the establishment and perfection of the technique standard, and experiment with rules and evaluation methods for new energy car products."

China is expected to introduce 60-thousand energy-saving and new-energy cars in the next four years, of which, more than 95 percent are kinds of mixed-drive cars.
