Chery enters Vietnam market with QQ3 minicar

Shanghai, May 26 (Gasgoo.com) The Chery QQ3 minicar has recently been launched in Hanoi, capital city of Vietnam, as the first Chery model to enter the Vietnamese market, signifying Chery Auto has successfully entered the 8th market of ASEAN, the Chinese carmaker's website said.

The ceremonious launch of the Chery QQ3 minicar on April 17 aroused wide media attention from Vietnamese TV stations, websites and newspapers. More than 30 media organizations reported the event, greatly raising the recognition of the Chery brand, and positively enhancing Chery's brand appeal and publicity.

Chery Auto and Vietnam Motor Corp established cooperative relations on September 12, 2008. From kicking off the CKD project to launching the Chery QQ3, it took Chery Auto only half a year, making this model's assembling in Vietnam one of the fastest-operated CKD projects of Chery.

At the beginning of this year, Chery Auto launched its QQ3 Qihang model to the domestic market . The minicar with full configurations offers consumers more choices of fuel-efficient vehicles. The Chery QQ3 Qihang minicar model comes with three 0.8-liter  and 1.1-liter engines, priced between 33,800 yuan ($4,950) and 47,800 yuan.

In China's auto market, Chery QQ has become a mature homegrown minicar brand. In 2007, the country's top economic planning body named Chery QQ a car model of the lowest fuel consumption, and in 2008, the QQ mini was included in the government green-car purchase list.

Chery is not alone in building Chinese-brand vehicles in Vietnam. Another Chinese private automaker Great Wall Motor in February saw its Hover CUV model rolling off its assembly plant in Vietnam and going to the local market. China's motorcycle and automotive manufacturer Lifan Group is pushing ahead with its planned car assembly plant in Vietnam.
