Audi China May sales up 28% to 12,425 cars
Shanghai, June 9 (Gasgoo.com) In China, Audi car sales grew by 28% year on year to 12,425 units in May, the third straight record month for Audi's sales in the Chinese market, the company said today, Reuters reported.
However, record sales in China could not help prevent a further monthly decline in vehicles sales at Volkswagen's premium brand Audi. In the first five months of the year, Audi posted a 12.1% decline in cumulative sales to 374,750 vehicles.
The Ingolstadt, Germany-based carmaker said on Monday that volumes declined by 6.1% to 82,800 vehicles in May, due to double-digit declines in major markets such as Western Europe and the United States.
China sales accounted for the bulk of the 15,650 Audi cars sold last month in Asia-Pacific, where Audi also posted a substantial year-on-year gain in Australia and South Korea.
