Honda increases production and sales network in China

Shanghai, June 18 (Gasgoo.com) Honda Motor Co., Japan's No. 2 automaker, said on Wednesday that it plans to increase production and sales network in China to meet booming demand there, Japanese media 'Sankei shinbun' reported.

Honda wants to increase production capacity in China by 8.5 percent from 2008 to 510,000 units this year and add 30 dealers, which will boost its total number of dealers in China to more than 700.

Production capacity at Guangzhou Honda Automobile Co., the Japanese firm's car-making joint venture with Guangzhou Automobile Group, will rise to 330,000 vehicles this year from 306,000 vehicles in 2008; Production of Dongfeng Honda Automobile Co., a joint venture with Dongfeng Motor Group Co, will rise to 180,000 vehicles from 164,000 in 2008.

Honda sales in China in the first five months of the year rose 4.7 percent from a year earlier to 202,314 vehicles.
