Geely Auto, Chery Auto to enter Taiwan market

From SinoCast| June 28 , 2009 13:40 BJT

Carmakers based in mainland China are exciting to set foot in Taiwan, which is a virgin market they have not found access to until the authorities across the Taiwan Strait improved partnership.

Geely Automobile Holdings Limited, a private carmaker based in Zhejiang Province, successfully pushes forward the cooperation with Taiwan-grown Yulon Motor. It will launch its Panda, a mini sedan model, in Taiwan via CKD exports and localized production by the partner.

Chery Automobile, another leading private automaker in mainland China, plans to edge into the Taiwanese market before the end of 2009. Its local partner is also the exclusive distributor in Taiwan. At first, it will assemble CKD and sell in Taiwan. Chery A3, a shining sedan model sold well in mainland China, will be the first model to debut Taiwan.

A person at the marketing unit of Chery discloses that A3 has finished the crash test at the Automotive Research & Testing Center of Taiwan and the results of front and side crash tests met the local security standards.
