Fujian Daimler to begin making M-Benz vans in Aug
Shanghai, July 15 (Gasgoo.com) Fujian Daimler Automotive Co, a joint venture (JV) between Daimler, Fujian Motor Industry Group and Taiwan's China Motor Corporation, is planning to start volume production of Mercedes-Benz vehicles in China in early August, reports Xinhua's China Economic Information Service.
Sources say Fujian Daimler has already finished the test-run of equipment for vehicle assembly, welding and painting production lines, and will start to produce Mercedes-Benz light commercial vehicles with less than 20 seats such as Viano multi-purpose vehicle and Vito minivans next month.
The company said it would be able to deliver the first batch of vehicles to consumers by October and it has set a sales target of 10,000 to 15,000 units for 2010.
Starting from early 2010 Fujian Daimler will also build vehicles for oversea markets in India and Southeast Asia, according to the report.
