Dongfeng Nissan nearing '09 vehicle sales target
Dongfeng Nissan Passenger Vehicle Company outperformed the market and became one of the top five Chinese carmakers in terms of sales in 2008. This year, the joint venture between Dongfeng Motor Corporation and Nissan Motor Co., Ltd. continued its good performance.
In the first half of 2009 ended June 30, its sales reached 225,073 vehicles and market share hit 7.2%. Since the company does not simply rely on Tiida series any more, it is definitely able to fulfill its sales target of 388,000 vehicles for the year of 2009.
Moreover, the company is expected to complete its sales target ahead of schedule and set a new goal, or jump to the fourth largest Chinese automaker in terms of sales this year.
In June, Dongfeng Nissan sold 44,753 vehicles, including 8,951 vehicles of new Teana, 13,751 vehicles of Tiida, 8,323 vehicles of new Sylphy, and 9,163 vehicles of Livina.
The company ranked ahead in the four segmented market with prices ranging from below CNY 100,000 to above CNY 200,000. Because the market demand is continuously changing, Dongfeng Nissan is capable of getting big sales anytime.
Last June, new Teana hit the market and has been sold well since then. In the past one year, its sales have been varying from 8,000 to 10,000 vehicles per month and there has always been supply shortages.
New Teana's good performance is based on technology breakthroughs. The premium sedan is produced on advanced D platform for front-drive high-grade cars, and made with ultrafort steel used for military purpose.
It is equipped with VQ engines that are renowned for their smooth power delivery and refinement, and intelligent continuously variable transmission system that saves oil by 15%.
Dongfeng Nissan's orientation for Sylphy has been leading family cars since its debut. The car model has set a new criterion for family cars with wheelbase of 2,700 millimeters, 2.0L aluminum alloy engines, continuously variable transmission, and high-tech equipment such as bluetooth.
Priced at a starting price of CNY 129,800, new Sylphy has lowered its price-to-performance ratio since the day it came to light. Till now, its undelivered orders have topped 10,000 vehicles. Dongfeng Nissan has decided to boost the production capacity of the car model to welcome its sales boom.
As the sales champion of Dongfeng Nissan, Tiida witnessed sales of more than 13,000 vehicles in June. Its 1,863-millimeter long body, and 1.6L aluminum alloy engines processed with proper circle cylinder technology used in the production of racing cars enlarge its power and reduce oil consumption.
