Beijing Hyundai to expand green taxi fleets

Shanghai, October 19 (Gasgoo.com) Beijing Hyundai Motor Co, a joint venture in China between Hyundai Motor Co and Beijing Automotive Industry Holdings Co, said it would develop green taxis that can burn 10 percent less fuel in future.

Li feng, executive vice president of Beijing Hyundai, said they believe demand for new energy vehicles will mainly arise from traditional public transportation system. At the mean time, Beijing-Hyundai will also focus on developing new energy cars to cater to the potential high demand in taxi market.

For the first nine months of the year, Beijing Hyundai sold 412,399 cars, up 88% year-on-year. The company expects to sell 550,000 vehicles by the end of this year.
