Shanghai, November 9 (Gasgoo.com) General Motors said today that its sales in China last month more than doubled from a year earlier to 166,911 vehicles, continuing its monthly sales records this year in the Chinese market, media reported.

Over the January-October period, GM saw its China sales rise 59.8% year on year to 1.46 million vehicles, the U.S. auto giant said in a statement, adding that its sales in China this year to date have exceeded 1.5 million units.

Shanghai GM, GM's flagship passenger car venture in China with SAIC Motor, sold 68,505 vehicles in October, up 109.7% from a year earlier, bringing sales in the first 10 months up 46.5% to 548,707 units.

SAIC-GM-Wuling, GM's mini-commercial vehicle venture with SAIC and Liuzhou Wuling Automobile, sold 89,416 vehicles domestically last month, up 78.5%. Sales were up 65.9% in the first 10 months to 891,285 units.

GM's third Chinese vehicle-making venture, FAW-GM Light Duty Commercial Vehicle Co., which was set up in late August, sold 8,687 light trucks and vans in October.

GM aims to grow faster in China than the country's overall auto market next year, when Beijing is believed to come up with additional steps to support the industry.
