General Motors Co said vehicle sales in China jumped 109.5 percent in November from a year earlier, boosted by strong sales of fuel-efficient models.

General Motors and its joint ventures sold 177,339 vehicles in November, a record for the month, the company said in a statement on Tuesday.

Auto sales in China, the world's largest market, have been surging since early this year, boosted by government incentives aimed at bolstering domestic demand.

In the first 11 months, GM sales in China rose 64 percent to 1.64 million units.
