Great Wall Motor Jan sales up 150% to 25,100 vehicles
Shanghai, February 20 (Gasgoo.com) Chinese automaker Great Wall Motor recently said that its sales at home and abroad reached 25,100 vehicles last month, surging 150% from 9,800 a year earlier, Sinocast reported.
The auto company based in north China's Hebei province achieved a sharp increase in sales of pickup trucks, SUVs, and sedans. The robust sales in January are attributed to the upward trend of the Chinese auto market since late 2009 and the global economic recovery.
Great Wall Motor sold about 225,000 vehicles in 2009, up 77% year on year, with its sales in the domestic market up 155%. The company aims to sell up to 400,000 vehicles in 2010. It will increase the number of dealers to 580 and carry out effective distribution management.
The automaker will release five new models in 2010, including the SUV Hover M2, the Hover H3 with a diesel engine and an A-Class compact sedan which will be launched at the 2010 Beijing Auto Show.
Great Wall Motor, which previously specialized in the pickup and SUV production, said that sedans would become a major driver of its sales growth in the future.
