BYD Auto passes Faw-VW to rank Top 3 in March car sales

Shanghai, April 19 (Gasgoo.com) According to the data provided by China Association of Automobile Manufacturers (CAAM) on April 9, BYD Auto became China’s No.3 maker of passenger cars in terms of sales volume in March, after Shanghai Volkswagen and Shanghai General Motor. It is the first time BYD Auto has entered into top 3 list.

The list of top 10 passenger car makers in sales volume in March are ranked as: Shanghai Volkswagen, Shanghai General Motor, BYD Auto, Faw-Volkswagen, Beijing Hyundai, Dongfeng-Nissan, Faw Toyota Motor Sales Co., Geely, Chery and Chang’an Ford.

BYD Auto sold 68,129 vehicles in March, an increase of 99.3% compared to the previous month and ranked among top 3 the first time, even surpassing Faw-Volkswagen. In March those top 10 automakers sold 556,100 vehicles, which accounted for more than 70 percent of China’s total passenger cars sold in the month.
