Mercedes Malaysia Q1 sales up 20% to 1,089 cars

Mercedes-Benz Malaysia Sdn Bhd has registered a 20 percent sales growth in the first quarter of 2010 with 1,089 cars sold.

This was compared with 908 units sold in the corresponding quarter in 2009, the company said in a statement here on Monday.

Its chief executive officer Peter Honegg said the first-quarter performance clearly reflected the resilience of the auto industry and was also a testament to the excellent brand value of Mercedes- Benz.

According to Honegg, the best-selling model were the C-Class with 510 units sold, followed by the E-Class (435 units) and S- Class (75 units).

He also announced that the company was excited to be able to bring in the Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG super sports car into Malaysia.
