Dongfeng Nissan new plant to start production in 2012
At the end of July 2009, Dongfeng Nissan officially announced it would invest 5 billion yuan ($732 million) in the expansion of its new plant, located in Huadu Auto City of Guangzhou and next to the existing factory, which mainly produces the Nissan brand passenger cars.
People close to Dongfeng Nissan said that the second Huadu factory is Dongfeng Nissan's "Dream Factory", which will attain the company's global standards, pursue the same OCT (Quality Control Technology) as customers and use 100% water-based recyclable industrial coatings to achieve zero emissions of VOC (Volatile Organic Compounds) and wastewater and promote low carbon economy.
In 2009, Dongfeng Nissan reached an output of 520,000 units compared to the 460,000-uint capacity designed. Capacity is now the company's biggest bottleneck of development. At the Beijing Auto Show, Dongfeng Nisaan vice president Ren Yong said in an interview that all Dongfeng Nissan's current factories are working in overtime, but still unable to meet the market demands. When the new plant is completed, Dongfeng Nissan will strive for the new capacity goal of 1 mln vehicles, which will greatly ease the current supply shortage.
