Emerging markets account for half of GM sales in 2010
Sales in emerging markets such as China, India and Brazil will amount to more than half of General Motors' total for 2010, said Timothy Lee, president of GM International Operations.
In 2009, emerging economies contributed only 44 percent of GM's overall sales.
GM's sales in China will exceed 2 million units, and all GM's brands - Chevrolet, Buick, Cadillac, Opel and Wuling - will achieve 3 million units of sales in China by 2015, Lee said in an interview with a German magazine.
"3,000 Opel cars were sold in China last year, and the figure will be higher this year," Lee said. Although Opel strives to make itself a global brand, its sales in China have been very low.
