Shanghai, May 17 (Gasgoo.com) Beijing Hyundai will launch its new Verna sedan in August 2010, while its hatchback model will appear on the market by the end of this year, the company recently told reporters.

The Verna sedan is the core model of Hyundai's global strategy of small cars. Specially designed for the Chinese market, the car made its world debut at the 2010 Beijing Auto Show last month.

The Verna sedan, whose overall body was designed in a concept of the modern "fluid sculpture", was jointly made by Hyundai Motor's Nanyang R&D Center (located in China' Henan province), as well as the company's North American and European R&D centers.

The Verna sedan will go on sale in August, followed by the hatchback in October, according to Beijing Hyundai's previous plan. However, some sources said the company would announce the latter on the Guangzhou Auto Show to be held by the end of December.

Moreover, spy photographers show that the two models have the same interior and exterior and are equipped with the same power system that is Hyundai Motor's latest 1.6γ CVVT engine, currently used in the i30 and the Elantra models, which matches the 5 Manual Transmission (MT) and the 4 Automatic Transmission (AT) respectively.
