Volvo to recall XC90 SUVs in China on fuel line flaw
Shanghai, May 21 (Gasgoo.com) China's quality regulator said today that Swedish carmaker Volvo Car Corp. will recall 571 XC90 SUVs from May 24 due to a defective fuel line, media reported.
This Volvo recall in China involves the 571 imported 3.2-liter XC90 and 2.5T XC90 luxury SUVs produced between October 26, 2009 and December 21, 2009, said a statement on the website of the General Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine (GAQSIQ).
"A manufacturing defect in the fuel pressure line may result in a fuel smell and/or fuel seepage," said Volvo's recall notice. "Since the fuel line is working under a constant pressure, some seepage can, within a short period of time, potentially develop into a greater leakage.
"In a worst case scenario, such leakage may, with the addition of an external ignition source, potentially lead to a fire in the right front wheel house area."
Owners of the affected vehicles are advised to contact an authorized Volvo dealer to arrange inspection or replacement of the fuel pressure line. They can contact Volvo by calling 400-678-1200, or contact the GAQSIQ.
