FAW-VW to make Audi models in Guangdong plant

Shanghai, May 25 (Gasgoo.com) After completing construction of FAW-VW's new Guangdong plant, the joint venture will put the Audi model into production, Audi insiders told reporters recently.

Although the specific model has not been determined, the new southern plant has already positioned in mid- and high-end models of the Volkswagen and the Audi brands, FAW-VW insiders said.

FAW-VW has decided to build a new plant in Guangdong's Foshan city and the new plant will start production in 2013, with a capacity of over 200,000 vehicles. Which local automaker to choose to cooperate with is still in question now.

Previously, attention was given to the low-end small car Seat, but recently a couple of top executives from Volkswagen have denied the saying. In addition, we have no any plans to produce the Seat model in China, Volkswagen marketing and sales director, Mr.klingler said in an interview earlier.

FAW-VW is most likely to import the Seat model into its southern plant after which is capable of mass-production and that is probably around 2015, according to latest sources.
