One millionth BMW X5 from U.S. plant goes to China

China steals the show again! This time, the Asian superpower takes over BMW’s incredible one millionth X5. Though all credits for gaining such a height in SUV production go to the staff of Spartanburg, South Carolina, the illustrious piece will grace the roads of China!

After first appearing in late 1999 as 2000 X5, the SUV from BMW has achieved a milestone by producing the one millionth model this week within a span of 11 years, says an auto expert. X5 is a name that has helped people experience a SUV in a different way. In the light of its extended utility and on-road capability, X5 remains a front-runner in the U.S. SUV car segment.

If you are all agog to know more about the one millionth X5 model that made the Spartanburg plant proud, let me tell you the magic-model is a Black Sapphire 2011 model year BMW X5. It will be shipped to a consumer in China. With Drive 35i, the model will definitely be able to uphold the Chinese dragon-spirit, says an auto journalist.

BMW X5 comes with Cinnamon Brown Nevada leather interior trim.  Over 120 markets all over the world dnow order the X5 – bulk of which is supplied from the famed Spartanburg plant. BMW is the first European auto-manufacturer that started production in the U.S. in 1994 and now its cars are exported all over the world.

Emphasizing the role played by the Spartanburg plant in helping popularize the BMW brand image, a press release on the release of the one millionth X5 said, "The development of the BMW Spartanburg plant is also closely linked with the success story of the BMW X5. The location, which has existed for 15 years now, has become the most crucial centre of expertise for BMW X models within the BMW Group's global production network. Built in Spartanburg, the BMW X5 is now exported to more than 120 countries, with the BMW X6 also being produced there for export to the entire global market. Before the end of this year, production of the latest BMW X3 generation will commence at this location."
