Hyundai-Kia expands auto market share in China
Hyundai-Kia Automotive Group's share of the Chinese auto market in May climbed 0.2 percentage point to 9.6 percent, the second largest in the market, following only Shanghai GM with 9.9 percent.
According to a report by the Korea Automotive Research Institute released on Tuesday, Beijing Hyundai, a joint venture between Hyundai Motor and Beijing Automotive Group, sold 56,000 cars there last month.
Dongfeng Yueda Kia, Kia Motors' joint venture with local automaker Dongfeng Motor, sold 24,000 units over the past month.
Beijing Hyundai's market share grew 0.3 percentage point to 6.7 percent while Dongfeng Yueda Kia's fell 0.1 percentage point to 2.9 percent.
