Chery Quantum is to build plant in Changshu

Shanghai, June 21 (Gasgoo.com) Last week, the website of Jiangsu Changshu Economic Development Zone published an article, which further confirmed the news that Chery Quantum is to build its plant in Changshu.

The article revealed that the plant in Changshu has an annual production capacity of 150,000 vehicles and basically possesses the main workshops for an automobile production plant, which includes the pressing workshop, welding workshop, painting workshop, assembly workshop and so forth.

Located in the northeast of Suzhou, southwest of Shanghai, bordering on the north with Yangtze golden waterway, opposite to Nantong, close to Zhangjiagang on the northwest border, coupled with its own harbor, Changshu has an excellent geographic location.

This location is consistent with Chery Quantum's original plan to export its products overseas and also closer to Chery Quantum's headquarters in Shanghai. Besides, the auto parts industry is also identified as one of Changshu's new industries for future development.

Chery Quantum is a joint venture between Chery Automobile, China's largest independent car manufacturer, (50%), and Israel Corp. (50%). The JV intends to develop Western-standard vehicles for China's domestic market as well as for export. Israel Corp. holds 50% of Chery Quantum.

Late last year, Chery Auto began to set up production plant in Dalian, its first production base outside of Anhui province in addition to its overseas base. This year, Chery Auto laid a foundation for its production bases in Kaifeng, Henan and Erdos, Inner Mongolia. All of this demonstrates that Chery Auto begins to expand outside of Anhui province.
