Shanghai, June 29 (Gasgoo.com) After transferring its production base from Chongqing to Nanjing, Changan Mazda Automotive Co, Ltd. hopes the release of the classic Mazda 3 model will be an opportunity to further expand the customer base so as to promote the sales of the joint venture, said general manager Liu Chuanchang.

As for the introduction of new models, Liu said cautiously that Changan Mazda is having a discussion with its parent companies Mazda Motor and Changan Group on the release of other new models. Changan Mazda hopes to further expand the production line, including various models of the new generation of Mazda.

Liu also pointed out that the production transfer from Chongqing to Nanjing was a challenging move in the auto industry. Typically, it takes 3 months for a product to finish a transfer, while Mazda 3 not only used half of that time to complete it but at the same time also expanded the production capacity.

Changan Mazda aims to sell 100,000 units in 2010. Due to the transfer, however, the sales of the first 5 months were 36,000 vehicles, 36% of the whole year's sales target. In spite of this, Changan Mazda still has faith in the Chinese market and another mission for general manager Liu Chuanchang is to map out the expansion plan for Changan Mazda.
