Chery to launch all-electric car with Better Place in 2012

Shanghai July 19 (Gasgoo.com) Chery Auto is to join hands with American Better Place, an electric vehicle infrastructure provider, in the R&D of replaceable electric car and charging network. The Chery replaceable electric car will be put on sale in 2012, media reported.

Chery Auto said that it has mastered the core technologies of electric cars, such as: battery and battery management system, motor and motor control system, IVCS (intelligent vehicle control system), electric air conditioning and power steering. Chery is implementing its "walking on two legs" strategy of the rechargeable and replaceable electric car.

In April, Chery and Better Place signed a strategic cooperation agreement. Both sides will cooperate in the developing of replaceable electric car and finding the solutions to the charging network of electric cars.

"Once the two sides work together, the seamless connection between electric car and charging network will become a reality," said an insider from Chery.

In the future, users of the Chery replaceable electric car just need to come to the battery replacement station to "rent" the batteries.
