BMW recalls 124,000 new 5-series cars in China, US

Shanghai July 28 (Gasgoo.com) Due to a fault on the fuel tank sensor, BMW will recall 124,000 vehicles of its new 5 series models in the U.S. and Chinese markets, media reported recently.

The new 5 series models were produced from January 12, 2010 to July 1, 2010.

American National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) revealed to the media that up to now, traffic accidents resulted from the fuel tank sensor of BMW's new 5 series has reached 10 cases.

"We will recall 6,400 vehicles from the US market and 5,000 to 6,000 vehicles from China,"said Frank Strebe, a BMW spokesman.

BMW will replace the faulty fuel tank sensor of the recalled cars for free. It takes about half a day for each vehicle to finish the replacement.
