Shanghai, August 5 (Gasgoo.com) Chery Auto and China Unicom, the country's second-biggest mobile-phone carrier, signed a framework agreement yesterday in Hefei, to jointly build a 3G onboard Information platform, China Securities Journal reported Thursday.

Under the agreement, the two sides will develop, test, and promote remote diagnostics and rescue, location services, information services, entertainment services, communication services, call center and other related services, to well improve the integration of various models from Chery and these services through the WCDMA 3G network.

3G is a generic term covering a range of future wireless network technologies, including WCDMA, CDMA2000, UMTS and EDGE. The 3G onboard Information platform can provide remote, diversified information services for the drivers through the information system installed on the vehicles.

Year to date, China Unicom has signed agreements with FAW, SAIC, Changan Auto and other domestic automakers on vehicle information services.
