Shanghai August 9 (Gasgoo.com) BYD Auto (012111) said last Friday that it sold 33,046 vehicles in July, up 4% year on year, but down 6% month on month, which the company's representative said was because the market was in the off-season.

Influenced by the Chinese government's economic austerity measures, sales of BYD sedans dropped 6.5% m/m and grew 4% y/y to 33,046 units in July, compared with June's 35,356 units. The company's sales have been declining since April.

Sales of BYD sedans for the first seven months of the year reached 322,060 units, accounting for 54% of the company's adjusted annual sales target of 600,000 units.

In July, BYD boosted sales of its F3, F0, F6, G3, F3DM Plug-in Hybrid and E6 electric cars to 14,836 units, 12, 321 units, 2,612 units, 3,211 units, 32 units and 17 units, respectively.

BYD has recently cut its annual sales target for 2010 by 25% to 600,000 units from the previous goal of 800,000 units as growth slows in the world's biggest auto market.

Forcasts say BYD' sales growth for the second half of 2010 will be strong at over 50%.
