Shanghai August 23 (Gasgoo.com) Shanghai Volkswagen's Skoda brand maintained a strong momentum of steady and fast development. In Jan-June 2010, its terminal sales reached 83,234 units, up 80% year on year, far ahead of the industry average of 48%, media reported.

In addition to the rise in sales, Skoda also introduced some new models: new Octavia, Superb 1.4 TSI and Fabia. The upgraded Octavia GreenLine series has gained Skoda's brand image a more competitive edge.

This year witnessed the market potential of three Skoda models. In face of supply shortage and vertical product facelift, Octavia managed to contribute a sales volume of 46,795 units to the Skoda brand, a growth of 25.5% from a year earlier, securing its top three position in the high-end A-Class vehicle market.

Despite a sharp drop in the segment market, Fabia still sold 17,755 vehicles in H1, up 100.7% from the same period last year, retaining its position as one of the top three vehicles in the high-end A0-Class market.

Superb, the flagship model of Skoda, had a monthly sales of 3,000 units. Its sales in H1 grew to 18,684 units, ranking the first in Skoda's global sales.
