Beijing Hyundai will launch new energy cars in China any time: President

Shanghai August 24 (Gasgoo.com) Beijing Hyundai has already developed both hybrid and pure electric cars and will launch them to the Chinese market any time if there is truly a demand, Noh Jae-man, president of Hyundai's joint-venture with Beijing Automotive Industry Holding Co., said in an interview yesterday.

The Beijing-based joint venture launched on August 23 its Verna car whose addition to the market is likely to intensify competition in the segment given that the Ford Fiesta and the Suzuki Swift that are already highly competitive in China.

The Hyundai Verna features a 1.3L and a 1.6L engine with the usual option of manual and automatic gearboxes and is expected to be sold between 70,000 yuan-110,000 yuan ($10,000-$16,000).
