China's homegrown automakers not planning to adjust 2010 sales target

Shanghai August 25 (Gasgoo.com) China's homegrown automakers saw their sedan output and sales in the first half drop by 6.31% and 2.64% respectively from a year earlier. The electric carmaker BYD Co. even cut its annual sales target for 2010 by 25% to 600,000 units from the early 800,000 units, however sources said most of the country's own-brand carmakers have decided not to adjust their sales target for the year.

Changan Auto broke through the 100,000 vehicle sales mark in the first six months, of which its own-brand sold 611,100 units, up 47.19% year on year. The company plans to sell 2.2 million vehicles this year with nearly half sold already. To achieve its target as soon as possible, Changan will launch both the traditional and new energy vehicles in the second half.

Moreover, Brilliance Auto, the local partner of BMW, has accomplished half of its annual sales target of 500,000 vehicles and 500,000 engines.

Dongfeng Passenger Vehicle Company, a subsidiary of Dongfeng Motor Corporation, reported sales of 20,000 units in the first half and has only two models, Dongfeng Fengshan S30 and H30 in the market at present. However, the company is not likely to lower its sales target for it already adjusted production in April based on previous months' sales.

South East Motors also said it will adhere to its sales targets of about 130,000 units, and Great Wall Motor will stick with its sales target of 400,000 units in the meanwhile.

China's biggest independent automaker Chery Auto has set its sales target for the year at 430,000 units early this year and will not lower it and will strive to achieve 450,000 units instead, the company's sales manager Ma Deji said.
