Shanghai August 26 (Gasgoo.com) Mercedes-Benz A-class is about to enter the Chinese market in October, followed by the brand new Benz R-Class, media reported.

The Mercedes-Benz A-Class is Benz’s entry level model, which according to an industry expert, will be priced at 220,000 yuan-280,000 yuan ($32,400-$41,180).

The A-Class’ body size is 3838/1764/1593mm and will carry a 1.6-liter petrol engine or a 1.8-liter diesel engine. Given the subsidy policy in China now, the one with 1.6-liter engine is the most likely one to be imported to China.

The A-Class is developed from a new platform and abandoned the current “sandwich” structure. Its style and design were influenced by the concept car Bluezero, which was put on sale last year. The profile of A-Class bears a resemblance to Mercedes-Benz B-Class’, but is slightly different from it in terms of body size and configuration of power.

The one that is to be imported later, the new Mercedes-Benz R-Class is likely to carry two engines: a 272-horsepower 3.5-liter V6 with 349N·m of torque or the 210-hp 3.0-liter V6 turbo diesel with 542N·m of torque.

Meanwhile, the new R-Class gets a restyled rear bumper with reflectors, standard LED rear taillights and integrated exhaust pipes. Besides, its face is expected to be enhanced with chrome trim incorporating optional LED daytime running lights in combination with bi-xenon headlamps.
