Chery denies news on plant in Spain
Chery Automobile Co. Friday said the deal with Catalonia hasn't even started to take shape yet, responding to news that the China-grown automaker was considering building a plant in the region.
Chery's spokesman Jin Yibo told the Global Times that the company only contacted with Catalonia, the government of the northeastern Spanish region, but didn't confirm other details like investment budget and beginning of production.
"Things aren't even starting to take shape yet," said Jin.
According to AFP news, Chery plans to build a plant in Catalonia by 2012 and the first models would be produced by 2015.
