All-Star acquires Volvo dealership
All-Star Automotive Group has acquired the Volvo dealership operated on Airline Highway by Ron Duplessis, who also said Tuesday that his Cadillac franchise is being transferred by General Motors to Gerry Lane Enterprises.
Both transactions will be completed by the end of the month, Duplessis said.
Duplessis said Cadillac did not want its cars paired in the same facility as Volvo.
Duplessis said Cadillac sales alone were not enough to support the dealership, nor could Volvo on its own so the decision was made to sell the Volvo franchise to All-Star Automotive Group.
As part of the deal, All-Star Automotive is purchasing the 8-acre Duplessis dealership site at 10313 Airline Highway, near Coursey Boulevard. Duplessis would not disclose the price.
Duplessis said All-Star also plans to sell Hyundai vehicles at the Volvo location.
“We have been awarded the Cadillac franchise by GM,” said Eric Lane, vice president of Gerry Lane Enterprises. “We will be selling them at the Hummer dealership no later than the end of October.”
General Motors is discontinuing the Hummer brand, which Gerry Lane Enterprises sells on Reiger Road, near Interstate 10 at Siegen Lane.
Cadillac will fill the void being left by Hummer, Lane said.
“We’ll have that as a separate facility right there,” Lane said.
Next door is Gerry Lane Enterprises’ former Saturn dealership, another brand that GM discontinued last year while the U.S. automaker was operating under bankruptcy protection.
