Xu's resignation from Geely is reportedly due to personal reasons. No successor has yet been appointed since.

While some sources claimed that Xu's leaving is because many of his thoughts and ideas cannot be turned into reality at Geely - in other words, he cannot perform to the best of his ability in the company.

In this regard, an industry insider said Xu Guozhen was born in Taiwan and educated in America, and has more than ten years of working experience at GM. It thus takes time for him to accept and adapt to a difficult culture, a private enterprise culture, Geely's culture. But it is still hard to believe that he had left the company in such a short time.

Xu Guozhen, also the former Global PR manager of Ford, joined Geely to take charge of the Chinese automaker's global communication and brand promotion in early June this year, when Geely was recruiting talents globally in a bid to promote its brand extensively.

Xu started working at GM in 1995 and was named as vice president of Ford Motor (China) Ltd. in 1998. After being in charge of the U.S. automaker's public affairs for ten years, he was transferred to Ford headquarters in 2008, serving as Global PR manager.
