BAIC launches new logo
Shanghai September 28 (Gasgoo.com) Following the inauguration of its new financing platform, "Beijing Auto Holding Company", Beijing Automotive Industry Holding Co (BAIC) also launched today its new logo (see below), officially changing its name to "Beijing Automobile Group Co., Ltd. ", Xinhua reported Tuesday.
With vehicle sales and output both broke through the 1 million-unit barrier in 2009, BAIC has leaped from obscurity to become the country's fifth largest automaker. BAIC produced 1.27 million vehicles last year, sales revenue beating a trillion yuan.
Nonetheless, a survey from Roland Berger Strategy Consultants showed that BAIC's brand influence ranked 10th among the domestic automakers. BAIC' brand image obviously hinders its development, which has forced the Chinese automaker to greatly strengthen its brand construction and image management.
In the first half of this year, BAIC produced 733,000 vehicles, up 25% year on year, and sold 746,000 units, up 28.2% from a year earlier, finishing more than half of its sales and production targets of 1.4 million units for 2010.
