Dongfeng Honda: 2010 sales target achieved

Shanghai December 2 (Gasgoo.com) Dongfeng Honda Automobile Co., Ltd., Honda Motor Co's Chinese joint venture with Dongfeng Motor Group , has achieved its annual sales target of 240,000 units, likely to hit a new record high of 260,000 units at the end of this year, informationtimes.dayoo.com reported Thursday.

As of November 29, 2010, the company's sales totaled 240,542 units, of which the Honda CR-V and Honda Spirior accounted for 94,321 units and 18,346 units respectively.

In 2009, the company recorded sales of 210,600 units, up 28.2% from a year earlier.

The early completion of the sales target for this year is attributable to the enhanced marketing team and sales network, Dongfeng Honda vice general manager Liu Hong said.

Separately, Dongfeng Honda started construction of its second plant in Wuhan, Hubei Province on November 5, with an initial investment of 2 billion yuan ($300 million). The new plant has a planned annual capacity of 100,000 units. By 2013, the company expects to increase the capacity to 120,000 units, and finally to expand to 240,000 units.
