Shanghai January 11 (Gasgoo.com) BMW AG said yesterday deliveries of its BMW and Mini models in mainland China hit a record high reaching 168,998 units in 2010, of which the two models accounted for 158,489 units and 10509 units, representing a year-on-year increase of 84% and 114%, respectively, Xinhua News Agency reported today.

China has become the German automaker's third largest market since early last year, and is also the biggest market for the BMW 7, 5 and X6 Series as well as the BMW 5 Series GT.

BMW AG, the world's largest maker of luxury cars, delivered 182,641 BMW and Mini vehicles in the Greater China region covering mainland China, Hong Kong SAR, Macau and Taiwan in the past year,  85% higher than the previous year.

Aiming for double-digit sales growth in 2011, BMW will continue to deepen its localization development strategy, with plans to launch the next generation X3, all-new 6 Series and the new mini Countryman in the Chinese market. Eight locally produced models under the skin of the new long-wheelbase BMW 5 Series will also be put on the market this year.

Additionally, BMW's joint venture with Brilliance China has started building its new plant since June last year, and expects to put it into operation in early 2012, when the company will have an annual capacity of more than 150,000 vehicles
